Last post… eight years ago. OK! Sorry about that. Much has gone down since then, to borrow a phrase I learned from a veteran writer/editor at the San Francisco Examiner who left us a while ago.
When I joined Axios in March 2018 I pretty much abandoned this blog, though I have been determined to keep its archives up (even through a sudden change in hosting when my previous provider left the business). But now I’ve left my job as Axios’ managing editor for tech — mostly out of exhaustion and a desire to step back from the grind of the daily tech news cycle. So this is a good time to dust off and crank up the old WordPress.
I can’t promise anything in the form of regular updates here, though you never know! I will probably do some housecleaning/site-spiffing-up. I might post something now and then. But for the moment my creative energy is mostly going into a new project called Our Web.
Chronological yet digressional, this project is borrowing inspiration and structure from Andrew Hickey’s magnificent “A History of Rock Music in 500 Songs.” Think of it as a history of the Web in some indeterminate number of sites, taking the form of a podcast and newsletter. I’m hoping to launch in the new year. There’s not much at the website right now, but you can sign up there for email updates if you want to know more.
