		<description>I would put Katrina on there before the social security stuff. The social security privatization attempt wasn't the first from neo-cons and failed leaving it less than a footnote in such a historically terrible presidency.</description>

Katrina in particular is one glaring instance of the larger decline in competence of government and bureaucracy (part of the old "hobble government till it's so feeble we can strangle it" strategy of the hard right). I struggled to fit that one in and utterly failed. Too many outrages to pack in, I'm afraid.</description>
