		<description>McLuhan's view that new technologies are reflexive, insofar as they bend back upon that which they replace (or are perceived to replace), is no better exemplified in the success of YouTube and the daily news articles about television programming producers making deals, starting new sites, et cetera to put their own programming on the Web.

Though as you point out, McLuhan was quite the Protean being, changing and adapting his own views (and, indeed, his lifestyle) throughout his life. He also made it a point to tell us all that however we interpreted his words, we were wrong. We probably still are.</description>
