Bill Gates is from the 1950s. Boundless optimism that technology will solve our problems for us. Someone needs to be doing the positive thinking . . .

It's a little humorous to hear Gates baiting someone about running off the profits of one product. How many years did Microsoft live off of DOS, especially on forcing manufacturers to overbuy licenses? How many more years did they live off of Office? Microsoft long used the profits from one or two products to fund the entire rest of the company, much of which was making almost no money, if not losing money.

On a more serious note, I hope Bill doesn't get discouraged when the world doesn't turn out to be as solvable as it first appears. He seems to honestly want to leave a positive impact on the world with his billions, and I wish him well.
