Whats wrong with OpenID?

The problem with identity is 'splintering', everyone thinks they have a better mousetrap q.e.d. No critical mass.

If, as several speakers at Wordcamp argued, the stuff we’re writing today –even the most ephemeral stuff — is going to provide a window onto our era for future generations, what can we do to insure that it will survive, in a world where file formats and physical media have a short shelf-life?

That's easy: just stop asserting copyright to prevent others from copying, distributing, and archiving what you have to say.

Very true. We need to accelerate our efforts towards an open standards, open identity system. Microformats and OpenID are good steps in this direction. But we need to work hard to ensure a critical mass in support of these efforts, much like how it was done in the early days of open source software.

My take on the open identity and open standards based social networking system can be found here.
